José “Javier” Rosado-Franco, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow
Education:
  • BSc in Biology, University of Puerto Rico Cayey
  • PhD in Biomedical Sciences, University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus
Description of research project:
  1. My primary research project focuses on elucidating the possible anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects of Cannabidiol (CBD) in an HIV monkey model using Rhesus macaques. Furthermore, I’m interested in determining the changes in microbiota caused by CBD in these animals.
  2. Another project that I’m working on is elucidating the molecular effects and changes in the microbiota caused by HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis using Rhesus macaques.
  3. A side project that I’m working on is determining the microbiota changes caused by THC self-administration in Sprague-Dawley female rats and the crosstalk between the Endocannabinoid system and the Immune system.
