Williams Lab
Welcome to the WIlliams Lab!
The Williams Lab studies how the brain is compromised during HIV and determines whether drugs of abuse and the antiretroviral therapies used to treat the virus synergize to exacerbate damage. We accomplish this with a multimethod approach that includes basic science molecular analyses, in vivo studies in mice and nonhuman primates, and collaborate to perform translational studies involving people living with HIV. Some of the experimental approaches performed in our laboratory include molecular biology, in vitro models of the human blood brain barrier, flow cytometry, drug transporter functional assays, ELISA, liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry, MALDI imaging mass spectrometry, and cell culture of primary human cells.
