Research Interests
Our research is focused on the mechanisms of signal transduction by neurotransmitter and hormone receptors. In particular, we study receptor interactions with cytoplasmic proteins that may act as mediators of receptor signaling and/or as scaffold proteins involved in the regulation of receptor trafficking and localization. We also study receptor interactions with other receptors, which can strongly regulate receptor trafficking and may underlie many unexplained examples of cross-talk between different neurotransmitter systems. Understanding the mechanisms of signal transduction and trafficking of neurotransmitter and hormone receptors is of paramount clinical importance, since such receptors are extremely common targets for therapeutic pharmaceuticals.
